Registration for kindergarten for the 2014-2015 school year begins Tuesday, January 21. A parent or guardian can register a child at the elementary school he or she will attend and all elementary schools offer full-day kindergarten. Elementary school offices at Bittersweet, Elm Road, Horizon, Madison, Mary Frank, Meadow’s Edge, Northpoint, Prairie Vista and Walt Disney are open between 7:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. and at Moran and Elsie Rogers the offices are open from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
The Indiana State Department of Health has updated the immunization requirements for the 2014-2015 school year. Here are the changes to the requirements:
Penn-Harris-Madison has implemented many new safety and security initiatives in our schools over the summer for the coming school year. Here are a few of the changes you will notice:
Classroom doors and permanent classroom walls have been added where needed and all classrooms will have doors that can be locked by the teacher.
Moran has been rated an A school by the Indiana Department of Education. This grade reflects Moran's most recent academic performance and is calculated based on data collected throughout each school year. The grade takes into account a variety of factors including student performance and student growth. The Knights’ Code Rewards program supports and rewards students who follow the LifeLong Guidelines and make appropriate behavior choices during the school day. Our goal is to help students develop appropriate behaviors that will follow them all their lives. With reminders and warnings, students are being coached to make behavior choices that will help them be successful not only at school but, as adults, in the workplace. In addition to the positive effect this program will have on discipline, we expect a rise in achievement as students are spending more time on task and are more engaged in doing their personal best to complete their learning tasks.
Volunteers are needed and appreciated at your child's school. Donating a few precious hours of your time can make all the difference. All volunteers must have an approved background check on file before volunteering.

Moran was built in 1951. The building was completely renovated in 1982 and is attractive and technologically up-to-date. A building addition completed in 2002 provides new front office space, a computer lab and a TV studio.
